Kremerata Baltica Festival Opening. Gidon Kremer and Osokin pianists

Pk. 06. Septembris 2019 19:30

Mazā zāle

Performers: Gidon Kremer (violin), Gerald Bidva (violin), Sergey and Andrei Osokin (piano), Kremerata Baltica Chamber Orchestra, conductor Fuad Ibrahimov

The opening concert “Eastern Border” invites you to remember those composers from Romania and the Czech Republic who spent most of their time in exile. The most significant Romanian composer George Enescu worked in Paris, Boston and New York, but he was able to learn about his roots after the Second World War through the folklore of his nation. The most renowned Czech composer of the 20th century Bohuslav Martinu experienced his music being banned and was forced to flee to Portugal and the United States of America. Works of the Polish-Russian origin composer Mieczysław Weinberg were not banned - his music was deliberately ignored in an attempt to break the spirit of the genius. But Dinu Lipatti was broken by life itself, first through the Pianist losing the movement of his fingers, followed by the passing of this great man.
