The world's most prestigious competition for young opera singers – the International Hans Gabor Belvedere Singing Competition, is a crucial event in the career of young opera singers around the world, as they compete not only for cash prizes but also for ongoing co-operation opportunities. Past participants and prize winners include world-famous opera stars such as Elina Garanča, Egils Siliņš, Angela Gheorghiu, Marina Mescheriakova, Ildikó Raimondi, Irina Samoilova, Stanislav Schwez.

The competition for young opera soloists “Belvedere”, named after Hans Gabor, the founder and long-time manager of the Vienna Chamber Opera, is something well known the city of Jurmala. Since 2005 Jurmala is the place, where selection rounds of the Baltic states have been held with the support of Jurmala City Council. 

This year, the regional selection round will take place on 13 May at 3:00 p.m. in the Small Hall of Dzintari Concert Hall.

The event will be held without the audience.

Singers are asked to present themselves in the theater with you either a PCR test not older than 48 h or the daily updated antigen rapid test + passport/ID - this is controlled when the singer enters the house - without a test no way to enter.

Candidates are asked as follows:
When planning your travel to the qualifying venues and the final rounds, please be aware of the legal regulations regarding entry, in particular the pandemic regulations due to the current situation. For the auditions, theaters usually require the wearing of a mouth-nose protection (mask) - except for singing -, usually also the presentation of a negative covid test. Participants will be informed about the admission conditions in due time before the auditions.
